FAQ PV Supernode
1.What is PV Supernode?
It is a Universal Controller for photovoltaic installations that performs monitoring and control functions related to the operation of a photovoltaic installation, as required by the connection conditions.
2.Does the PV Supernode controller have an EU declaration of conformity?
Yes, the PV Supernode controller has an EU declaration of conformity.
3.What are the functions of PV Supernode?
Sitelogger – The controller monitors the operation and controls the operation of the inverters in the plant. It directly cooperates with the telemechanics controller. It controls the active and reactive power of the installation, according to the commands received from the SCADA system used by the local Distribution Grid Operator.
Limited/zero-export – the controller cyclically takes information from the energy analyzer or meter at the facility’s connection, while controlling the active power generation of the inverters. It controls in real time the outflow of active energy to the grid.
4.Does the PV Supernode controller have a limit on the maximum power of the PV installation it monitors and controls?
PV Supernode controller does not have any limitation in this regard. It allows building multi-level structures in which it connects directly to inverters (typically via RS485), as well as can play an overriding role in relation to third-party loggers, coordinating their operation in large installations with multiple generation fields.
5.Inverters from which manufacturers does the PV Supernode controller support?
PV Supernode controller supports installations on which inverters are installed: Sofar, Solis, Goodwe, Growatt, Solaredge, Sungrow, Huawei, Kostal, Solplanet, Kehua, Fronius and others.
6.Can the Supernode PV controller support inverters from different manufacturers on a single installation?
Yes, the controller can support installations where inverters from different manufacturers are installed.
7.What kind of energy analyzers does PV Supernode work with?
PV Supernode works with energy analyzers: Eastron, Socomec, Lumel, F&F, Schneider, Lovatto and DLMS/COSEM meters.
8.What telemechanics devices does PV Supernode work with?
PV Supernode works with, among others : Mikronika MSG701 and USP140, Apator Ex-BRG3 and SPV-RM, Regulus uREG, IEN Gdansk STGP.
9.Can the PV Supernode controller be connected to a telemechanical controller (e.g. MSG701) via RS485 interface, while meeting the requirements of the national DSOs in terms of safety control of PV plant operation – i.e. using Modbus RTU and not only Modbus TCP?
Yes, the PV Supernode controller can communicate with the telemechanical controller via RS485 connector and Modbus RTU protocol.
10.What communication protocols does PV Supernode support?
PV Supernode uses the following protocols:
- Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP- for communication with telemechanics controllers, field controllers, weather stations and network analyzers.
- MQTT-secured via TLS-for communication with the PV Care system.
- OpenVPN – for communication with the server used for deployments and controller updates.
11.Can the PV Supernode controller read data from a weather station?
Yes, the controller reads data from the weather station via modbus RTU protocol or RS485 interface.
We recommend using the station: Elsner Weather Station P03/3 Modbus RTU | 30146, which communicates seamlessly with our device.
12.What connectors is the PV Supernode controller equipped with?
PV Supernode is equipped with 3 USB 2.0 connectors and 2 RS485 connectors, which can be expanded to 5 with USB adapters.
13.What are the requirements to implement the sitelogger function?
To implement the sitelogger function, it is necessary to have a telemechanics controller for proper communication with the operator.
14.What are the requirements to realize Zero/Limited Export function?
To implement the zero/limited export function, it is necessary to have an energy analyzer on the connection.
15.Can the PV Supernode controller simultaneously realize sitelogger and zero/limited export functions?
Yes, the unique feature of the PV Supernode controller is that it can realize both functions simultaneously.
